Spring" into Fitness

Now that Spring is in full swing, it's time to take a serious look at your "Fit"ness habits: a healthy diet and regular physical activity. One way to ensure you are consuming plenty of nutrients with smaller amounts of calories is to increase your intake of fruits and vegetables. Eating fruits and vegetables can help ward off heart disease, stroke, control blood pressure and cholesterol, and prevent some types of cancer. The average American gets a total of just 3 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. The latest dietary guidelines calls for 5-13 fruits and vegetables a day depending on calorie intake. For example, for  a person following a 2000 calorie diet to maintain weight and health, this is about 9 servings or 4 1/2 cups per day.
