Evidence keeps adding up that vitamin D is good for more than just strong bones. The latest research is showing, people who take vitamin D supplements appear to have a lower risk of death from any cause. Studies have suggested that vitamin D deficiencies might be associated with a higher risk of death from cancer, heart disease, and diabetes though the mechanisms are not clear. Vitamin D could inhibit some mechanisms by which cancer cells proliferate or it may boost the function of blood vessels or the immune system. Refer to the articles section on the home page for more detailed information regarding vitamin D. As a suggestion: I use ddrops vitamin D supplements as mentioned in an article in the CSPI Nutrition Action Newsletter in 2007. Just one drop provides 1000 IU of vitamin D which can be added to food or liquid. I put one in my morning cup of "Joe" and can't even tell!! The supplement is not only convenient but very affordable. Please email me if you would like more information about vitamin D and ddrops supplement. (information obtained for tip from Tufts Health&Nutrition Letter)
